Purpose & Scope
This article explains how to synchronize a Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad device with an MDaemon user's calendars and contacts, without the need for third party software.
Procedure
ActiveSync Implementation Requirement
WARNING: When you enable ActiveSync for MDaemon the first time:
- It will wipe your existing contact and calendar data and replace it with your MDaemon data. Therefore, be sure you have a complete back up of your device before synchronizing the first time. You can consult your device’s manual for instructions on how to back up your device.
- All first time syncs with ActiveSync will be a one way sync from the server to the device! After the initial syncronization, the sync will become two way.
- ActiveSync is a web-service extension, and will not work if your web- server (such as WorldClient) is not running on port 80 (for http) and/or port 443 (for https). ActiveSync will not work on other ports.
- Touch Settings

- Touch Mail, Contacts, Calendars

- Touch Add Account

- Touch Microsoft Exchange

- Fill in the following fields in the Account Setup dialog:
- Enter Email: Your full email address (example: dave@example.com)
- Enter Domain: The 'domain' portion of your email address (example: example.com)
- Enter Username: The 'user' portion of your email address (example: dave)
- Enter Password: Your password.
- Enter Description: Change this if desired

- Touch Next

- The Account Setup dialog will remain on the screen, but the Server field will now become active. Fill in your server name (For GoZone: webmail.gozonehosting.com)
- Touch Next

- If you have an SSL certificate:
- Notice the ‘Cannot Verify Server Identity’ error and Touch Continue

- If you are not using SSL (disabling will be required in a later step):
- You will receive an error 'Unable to verify account information'.
- Touch OK to remove the error message
- Touch Save

- Touch Save

- Set the Mail slider to OFF, set the Contacts and Calendars sliders based on preference.
- Touch Save

- Touch Fetch New Data

- Scroll to the bottom and touch Advanced

- Touch the account you just added (by default, it's called Exchange).

- Touch Fetch
Note: The implementation of ActiveSync for MDaemon 12 does not support push, the device needs to fetch the changes either on a timer or as the data is accessed. If you change the settings to Fetch, and set the timer to every 15 minutes (in the above step 15), then you will get changes made from WorldClient within 15 minutes without needing to open the application.

- If you are not using SSL (this is enabled by default on most devices):
- Go back to the Accounts screen
- Touch on Exchange
- Touch on Account Info
- Locate 'Use SSL' and set the slider to OFF
- Touch Done
