For many, email retention is related to compliance issues with HIPAA and or SOX. For others it is peace of mind knowing that you can always retrienve an email that you have received or sent, even if it's been deleted from your inbox.
As our mail boxes become stuffed with Gigabytes of data, it becomes more and more difficut to maintain an email client that is as responosive as we desire. Deleting email is one way to reduce the size of an email box, but the risk of losing important information is high.
